🥕 This week in the box: heritage carrots, purple potatoes, kale, quince & the last of the tomatoes — see what's coming

Our farm

Mill Lane Farm has been in the Ozola family since 1987. We have made every fashionable mistake once, concluded that our grandmother was mostly right, and adjusted.

How we grow

Soil first. Everything else follows.

  • Compost, not chemistry. Two turning windrows, a worm hut worth arguing about, and 42 acres fed by what the farm makes.
  • Rotations with rest. Every bed spends one year in clover-rye grass before it grows food again.
  • Heirloom seed. Saved and swapped for 20 years — flavour varieties you can't buy as sad supermarket substitutes.
  • Polytunnel patience. Unheated tunnels: our tomatoes taste of summer because they have to wait for it.
  • Hedgerows & habitat. 1.2 km replanted; the barn owls returned in 2019 and run the vole department.
